2026 Appleton District
Our second comp for the 2026 season was the Appleton District Event. We chose to go to a week 3 so that we would have plenty of time for changes before DCMP. With minimal time after Lakeland, we made minimal changes, and instead prioritized drive practice. At the competition, we came into practice matches with issues almost every match. However, starting qualifications on the second day, we had no issues. We then played through qualifications with an undefeated record, getting us 1st ranked at the event for the second time. We got 2 supercharged RPs throughout qualification matches (requires 360 fuel scored). Moreover, we set the event high score multiple times in qualification matches, with our highest being 434, which is 1 less point than our qualification match high score at Lakeland.
Going into alliance selection, we were alliance captain 1. We got to pick 2 teams based off our scouting data that was analyzed the night prior. We picked 2194 Fondy Fire and 6732 BHS RoboRaiders. Our playoff matches resulted in two more event high scores — one after our first playoff match (446 points) and another after our third (457 points).
In the middle of playoffs, we had the opportunity to have Honey Badgers — a newly created BadgerBOTS rookie team with all new members — serve as a backup bot. We determined they would be the most reliable option available, subbed them in for BHS RoboRaiders, then returned to our original lineup the following match. We won the event again, going undefeated throughout the entire event and bringing our season record to 33-1. Honey Badgers also won their first event as a backup bot! Additionally, thanks to our design team's investment in reliability and performance, we won the Industrial Design Award, and Bradley Chumanov, one of our team's co-presidents, won the FIRST Leadership Award, meaning he will now advance to compete for it again at DCMP.
